Two siblings from a Nepalese family tragically drowned in a swimming pool at a residential complex in the Raiyadhar area on Monday, just a day before they were scheduled to return to Nepal.
The incident took place around 3 pm at Sopan Heights. The victims, seven-year-old Dipesh and five-year-old Deepshikha, reportedly accessed the pool area after finding the gate open. According to police, Deepshikha accidentally slipped into the adult pool, and her brother drowned while attempting to save her.
Their father, Karan Bhandari, who works as housekeeping staff at the society, had arrived in Rajkot two weeks ago. Both children were rushed to the civil hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Police stated that Bhandari had planned to send his children back to Nepal on March 31, but the tragedy occurred a day earlier. A case of accidental death has been registered under Section 194 of the BNSS, and an investigation is underway.
