A video showing an elderly woman pulling a patient on a stretcher by herself at Rajkot Civil Hospital in Gujarat has raised concerns over patient assistance facilities at the hospital.
The woman was reportedly taking a relative for treatment when she was seen moving the stretcher without assistance. The video went viral on social media, prompting questions about the availability of staff to help patients and their attendants.
Following the incident, hospital accounts officer M.S. Roy said an inquiry had been initiated and a notice had been issued to the agency concerned.
The hospital administration has also announced plans to prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) to prevent such incidents in the future. The proposed guidelines will ensure that attendants are available to help move patients on stretchers when required.
The inquiry is expected to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the responsibilities of the agency providing the service.
