A major seizure at Rajkot International Airport has sparked discussion in business circles after officials recovered nearly 400 kg of silver valued at around ₹10 crore. The operation was carried out by the Central Intelligence Bureau (IB) following specific inputs about suspicious cargo arriving at the airport.
According to reports, the silver consignment was transported from Varanasi to Rajkot through a company identified as ‘Sunrise Firm.’ Investigators suspect the shipment may be linked to a prominent silver trader from Rajkot’s Samakantha area, though officials are still verifying the connection as the probe continues.
The seizure of such a large quantity of unaccounted silver has raised concerns over possible tax evasion and illegal hawala transactions. Central IB officials have launched a detailed investigation and are examining transport records and related documents.
Authorities are also looking into whether similar consignments had earlier been sent from Varanasi to the Rajkot-based trader. No arrests have been made so far, but security agencies are closely monitoring all links connected to the case.
