Ahmedabad to Get Advanced RTO Office with AI-Based Driving Test Track

Ahmedabad is set to get a new high-tech Regional Transport Office (RTO) complex near Subhash Bridge, as the Gujarat government completes a modern facility aimed at improving citizen services and speeding up transport-related processes.

Built at an estimated cost of Rs 62.26 crore under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the new office replaces the old RTO building and features digital and AI-powered infrastructure designed to make services more efficient and transparent. The fully air-conditioned complex has a built-up area of 12,787 square metres and includes a basement, ground floor, and three upper floors.

The office has been planned to handle heavy public footfall, with a waiting area that can accommodate around 230 visitors at a time.To improve accessibility, the building also includes lifts and ramps for differently-abled applicants. One of the key highlights of the new RTO office is its AI-based automated testing tracks for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

Officials said the advanced testing system, along with a modern control room, will reduce manual intervention, save applicants’ time, and bring greater transparency to driving licence tests and related procedures. The facility is also equipped with upgraded fire safety systems and digital service infrastructure to ensure faster and smoother processing of transport-related applications.

In a statement, the government said the new RTO complex has been developed to provide citizens with advanced facilities and transparent digital services while improving ease of living.Earlier, CM Patel had said that Gujarat’s cities are key socio-economic hubs and credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for driving urban development and improving the quality of life in the state during his tenure as chief minister. The project is part of the Gujarat government’s broader push towards technology-driven public services and modern urban infrastructure.

Once operational, the new facility is expected to handle a large volume of transport-related services for residents of Ahmedabad and nearby areas.
