A vacation trip to Kashmir turned tragic for several families from Ahmedabad after a tourist vehicle lost control and plunged nearly 15 feet into a gorge near Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district.Two tourists from Ahmedabad lost their lives in the accident, while two others suffered serious injuries.
According to initial reports, families from New Vadaj, Ghatlodia, and nearby areas of Ahmedabad had travelled to Kashmir for a summer holiday and were expected to return on May 20. On Saturday evening, the group hired four vehicles for sightseeing around Pahalgam.During the trip on the Pahalgam-Aru route, one of the vehicles reportedly went out of control and fell into a deep gorge.The deceased were identified as Bhavin Bhavsar from Ghatlodia and Nayanaben Bhavsar from Bhimjipura.Bhavin’s wife, Avniben, sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Srinagar. Their 12-year-old child, who was also travelling in the vehicle, escaped unharmed.Ashokbhai Bhavsar, husband of deceased Nayanaben, was also seriously injured and reportedly underwent surgery at a Srinagar hospital. The local driver of the tourist vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The incident has left family members and relatives in Ahmedabad in shock. Authorities in Kashmir have begun legal formalities and are coordinating arrangements to transport the bodies of the deceased and help the injured victims return to Ahmedabad.
