Multiple sections of the highway continue to witness roadwork, unfinished bridges and temporary diversions, forcing motorists to take alternate routes. Commuters have complained of longer travel times, poor road conditions and safety risks due to the incomplete infrastructure.
Concerns Over Toll Collection
The toll collection has sparked questions over whether motorists can be charged before the highway is fully completed and operational. Critics argue that road users are paying for infrastructure and services that have not yet been delivered, prompting demands for a review of the concessionaire’s toll collection practices.
MLA Seeks Government Intervention
The issue has been taken up with the Gujarat government through a representation submitted to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel by Patan MLA Kirit Patel. The memorandum seeks an immediate investigation into the alleged irregularities in toll collection and urges the government to suspend toll recovery until the Rajkot–Jetpur highway is fully completed and opened for seamless public use.
