Ahmedabad Woman Booked for Allegedly Using Forged Passports for Multiple Overseas Trips

A 35-year-old woman from Ahmedabad’s Thakkarbapanagar area has been booked by Delhi’s IGI Airport Police for allegedly travelling abroad multiple times using forged passports.

According to investigators, the woman is accused of replacing the photographs of genuine passport holders with her own and using the altered documents to impersonate them during international travel. While the case was initially registered in Delhi, the investigation has now been transferred to Ahmedabad to help identify and apprehend the agents allegedly involved in arranging the fake travel documents.

The alleged fraud came to light on May 17 after the woman arrived at Delhi Airport from the United States on an emergency certificate. During immigration checks, officials detected discrepancies in her travel history, prompting a detailed inquiry.

Investigators found that official records showed the woman had legally entered India in August 2024, but there was no corresponding record of her departure thereafter in the Immigration Control System. During questioning, she allegedly admitted to travelling abroad using a forged passport provided by an agent.

Following the findings, immigration authorities lodged a complaint with the IGI Airport Police. The woman has been booked on charges of cheating, forgery, and using forged documents, along with violations under the Passport Act.

Police are continuing their investigation and are working to trace the agents suspected of facilitating the forged passports and overseas travel.
