Ahmedabad police took action on October 28 after a routine inspection revealed a Thai woman working at Big Daddy Spa in Vastrapur without proper documentation. The woman, aged 34 and hailing from Kanchanaburi province, was found during an inspection conducted by officials from the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
Upon discovery, local police quickly arrived to question the spa’s operator. They found that the establishment had failed to submit mandatory reports to authorities regarding foreign nationals working there, violating a requirement set by the Ahmedabad Police Commissionerate.
The operator didn’t notify either the FRRO or local law enforcement about the woman’s presence, which is crucial under Indian regulations governing foreign workers. As a result of these violations, law enforcement booked both the Thai national and the spa operator.
The operator faces charges under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which pertains to disobeying lawful orders issued by public officials. This incident highlights ongoing concerns surrounding compliance with immigration laws in India.
