A legal dispute has ignited in Vadodara regarding the estate of a deceased professor, with his wife, daughter, and a housekeeper all claiming rights to his wealth. The professor passed away in 2010, leaving behind significant assets including several properties and financial benefits from his employment at various government medical colleges.
The family feud began when the professor’s wife and daughter filed claims as legal heirs to receive his salary benefits, provident fund, pension, and life insurance payouts. They assert their entitlement to three properties located in Pratapnagar, Nizampura, and Manjalpur. However, previous court rulings have cast doubt on their claims.
In 2019, a trial court rejected their case due to insufficient evidence presented by the two women. Following this setback, they appealed to the sessions court. Recently, that court ordered a retrial of the case after noting procedural errors during initial hearings.
Claims from the Housekeeper
Adding complexity to this case is the claim made by a former housekeeper who alleges she lived with the professor as his partner during his illness and old age. She contends that he was so impressed by her selfless service that he bequeathed all his assets to her via a registered will documented in front of witnesses.
The housekeeper has also presented video evidence in support of her claims and pointed out that she was named as a nominee on several insurance policies as well.
Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Government departments and insurance companies involved are prepared to comply with any final court orders based on existing nominations and legal documents. As it stands now, both sides await further action from the trial court following its recent directive for renewed proceedings.
