Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) will organise a special Garba event, ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba,’ on October 7, ahead of Navratri to mark 25 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi holding constitutional office.
The event will feature renowned Garba singer Atul Purohit and his group. Entry to the programme will be free. Purohit is also a former employee of VMC.The event is being organised in partnership with United Way, which hosts Atul Purohit’s Garba programme every year in Vadodara.
A major highlight will be an attempt to enter the Guinness World Records for the largest number of people performing Garba at a single venue. The event will follow the theme of linking Garba with the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
Known as Sanskari Nagari, Kala Nagari and the Garba Capital of the World, Vadodara has recently attracted national attention for large-scale public events. In September, the city hosted the ‘Namo for Viksit Bharat’ programme, where Prime Minister Modi made a musical entry and appealed to residents to maintain cleanliness.
The upcoming ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Garba’ is expected to be another major public event in the city, with the Guinness World Record attempt being one of its key attractions.
