A significant upgrade is on the horizon for drivers in Ahmedabad as work progresses on the bridge from YMCA to Karnavati Club. With the busy Navratri festival approaching, local sources indicate that the road underneath the overbridge could open to traffic soon.
Recent reports suggest that authorities from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) have been directed to expedite construction. They’ve been given a timeline to finish key developments within a month, aiming for completion before the festival begins.
If all goes according to plan, commuters will save 15 to 20 minutes during their travels. Without this new route, drivers had been forced into lengthy detours—about three kilometers—taking them through crowded areas like Bhagwan Circle and Zaveri Circle just to reach Karnavati Cross Road.
The resurfacing work on the road is already underway. Efforts are in place to cover potholes temporarily while more permanent fixes, including paving with block and asphalt, are being organized. The rush is palpable; officials understand that timely completion before Navratri could ease holiday traffic significantly.
Since August 2025, this route has faced closures leading many drivers into frustrating diversions. Now, with this new opening under consideration, there’s hope for smoother access directly from YMCA crossroad through Prahlad Nagar and onto Karnavati.
NHAI has committed not just to finishing construction by October 31 but also reassured citizens that all necessary repairs would be expedited following recent rains. Local police have also emphasized their oversight in ensuring all maintenance happens swiftly so that by Navratri everything runs smoothly.
