Chhota Udepur police on Friday busted a liquor smuggling attempt after stopping a Maruti van disguised as an ambulance. The vehicle, painted with “Gujarat Government,” “108 Emergency,” medical symbols and fitted with green hospital curtains, was intercepted near Sihod Janta Chowkdi following a tip-off.
When signalled to stop, the driver sped past the police, triggering a chase. On finally halting the vehicle, officers found 928 bottles of IMFL hidden under the stretcher and covered with hospital cloth. The driver fled the spot and is yet to be caught.
