Motorists travelling on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway are raising concerns over the poor condition of the road despite paying hefty toll charges.
Large gaps and damaged stretches on the bridges over the Shedhi, Khari, Meshvo and Vatrak rivers have increased the risk of accidents, leaving drivers frustrated.The expressway charges a one-way toll of Rs 165 for cars and up to Rs 510 for heavy vehicles.
However, commuters allege that the road has not been properly maintained, with the four river bridges in particularly poor condition. Many vehicle owners have also reported damage caused by the uneven surface.Drivers say the danger becomes even greater at night due to the lack of adequate lighting.
Vehicles travelling at high speed often fail to spot the large gaps on the bridges, leading to tyre bursts, vehicle damage and injuries to passengers. Small cars are especially vulnerable.Motorists have urged the Central Government to take immediate action and carry out urgent repairs to restore the expressway and prevent serious accidents.
