The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has uncovered another drug smuggling case at Surat Railway Station, targeting narcotics trafficking through trains.
Acting on a tip-off, officials intercepted a woman from Nashik travelling on a Holiday Special train from Hazrat Nizamuddin to Dadar and seized over 6 kg of narcotics valued at more than ₹6 crore in the international market.
The accused, identified as Meliora Chigozi Henry Uzor, was travelling in seat number 12 of coach B-7. Based on specific intelligence, the DRI team searched her belongings when the train reached Surat Railway Station.
During the operation, officials recovered nine packets of suspected methamphetamine hidden inside two bags. To avoid detection, seven packets were wrapped in black tape, while two were sealed in plastic. In total, 6,321 grams of narcotics were seized.The woman was arrested and produced before a court, which granted the DRI a two-day remand for further investigation.Second seizure in AprilThis is the second such case reported in April.
Earlier, on April 14, the DRI arrested a Nigerian woman, Emmanuela Gold Ikhanoba, with 2,017 grams of MDMA from the August Kranti Express.
