The Gujarat government has joined hands with India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) to offer free doorstep verification of Digital Life Certificates (Jeevan Pramaan) for state pensioners, removing the need to visit banks or government offices.
As per a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the state and IPPB, the service will be available from May 1 to July 31, 2026, and is expected to benefit over 5 lakh pensioners across Gujarat. The MoU was signed in the presence of Postmaster General (North Gujarat Region, Ahmedabad) Krishna Kumar Yadav and Finance Secretary Sandeep Kumar.
Officials said the initiative supports the government’s vision of expanding doorstep banking services introduced during IPPB’s nationwide rollout in 2018.Under the scheme, postmen and Gramin Dak Sevaks will visit pensioners at home to generate Digital Life Certificates using biometric authentication such as face recognition and fingerprint verification. The certificate will be issued within minutes and automatically sent to the pension office through the Jeevan Pramaan application developed by the National Informatics Centre.
Officials noted that more than 93,000 pensioners in Gujarat used the Digital Life Certificate service last year via IPPB, including over 62,000 who opted for doorstep service. To use the facility, pensioners must provide their Aadhaar number, mobile number, and Pension Payment Order (PPO/e-PPO) details to the postman. After successful verification, a Pramaan ID will be sent via SMS, enabling them to download the certificate online. The service will also be available to Gujarat pensioners living outside the state through their nearest post office.
Additionally, pensioners can withdraw money from home using the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS), making the process more accessible and convenient.
