The state education department has declared the summer vacation schedule for the 2025–26 academic year, covering all primary and secondary schools.
According to an official circular from the Director of Education, all government, grant-in-aid, and private schools will observe a common summer break from May 4 to June 7. The 35-day vacation aims to ensure a uniform schedule across all institutions. The move is intended to align academic calendars for both primary and secondary levels, enabling students and staff to follow the same timetable.
Earlier, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) had already scheduled summer holidays for Classes 9 to 12 during the same period. To maintain consistency, the Directorate of Primary Education has now issued a similar notification for primary schools.
District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Primary Education Officers (DPEOs) have been instructed to ensure smooth implementation of the schedule.
However, institutes offering Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) courses may adjust their vacation period if needed, depending on pending academic requirements and in accordance with court guidelines.
