In a daring daylight heist, unidentified men robbed ₹18 lakh from a steel and iron broker near the Vande Mataram Party Plot under Shaherkotda police limits in Ahmedabad on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the broker was returning from CG Road after collecting business payments and had kept the cash in his car’s boot. As he reached the area, a biker stopped his vehicle and picked a quarrel, snatching his car keys and throwing them ahead. When the victim stepped out to retrieve them, two more men arrived on another bike, broke open the boot, and escaped with the cash.
Investigators believe the robbers had been following the broker and executed a well-planned theft. Teams from Zone-3, including senior officers, examined CCTV footage from the area and issued a citywide alert.
An FIR has been registered, and multiple teams are working to identify and trace the culprits, suspected to be part of an organised gang familiar with the victim’s transactions.
