A Mumbai-based couple living in a rented bungalow at the Kalhar Club residential complex in Sanand has alleged that two recently hired domestic helpers fled with their SUV, luxury watches, and gold jewellery worth nearly ₹10 lakh.
In her complaint to Sanand police, Esther Sharma (38) said the accused, identified as Meet Bahadur Damai and Devraj Bhudrai Bhagirath Bhadrarai — both from Nepal — were hired about eight days ago through a manpower agency named S K Manpower Service. The couple had verified their photos and ID proofs via WhatsApp and paid a commission to the agent before employing them.
On the morning of November 4, Esther discovered their Mahindra XUV500 missing from the parking area, along with both servants and their belongings. CCTV footage later showed the duo driving away in the SUV around 2.45 am.
The stolen items include three luxury watches — Rolex, Omega, and Cartier — worth ₹3 lakh, gold ornaments valued at ₹3 lakh, and the SUV worth ₹4 lakh.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for theft and criminal breach of trust. Police have launched a search for the accused, who are suspected to have fled towards Mumbai or the Gujarat–Maharashtra border, and are also probing the manpower agency’s involvement.
