The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested two men for stealing cash and ornaments from sleeping passengers on luxury buses plying across Gujarat and Rajasthan.
The accused, identified as Vishal Devipujak (21) and Karan Devipujak (23) of Nadiad, would board night buses without tickets, search through passengers’ bags while they slept, and flee with valuables.
Police recovered gold and silver ornaments worth 10.26 lakh and 4 lakh in cash, together valued at 14.26 lakh. The haul includes gold bars, bangles, earrings, chains, 20 silver coins, anklets, bracelets, and rings.
The duo confessed to several thefts, including stealing a bag with ₹15 lakh in cash two months ago. A case has been registered with Kotwali Police Station in Pali, Rajasthan. The accused and seized property have been handed over to Rajasthan police.
Police have also named Ketan Bango of Nadiad as a wanted accused in the racket.
