Allegations of discrimination against students admitted under the Right to Education (RTE) Act have surfaced in four Ahmedabad schools, triggering debate in the Gujarat Assembly on Tuesday.
Congress MLA Imran Khedawala claimed several schools were segregating RTE students, denying them sports facilities, and treating them differently from other children.
State Education Minister Kuber Dindor confirmed that four schools in the city had been served notices after such complaints. However, Khedawala criticised the government for stopping at notices instead of taking stricter action, saying such leniency forces many RTE students to drop out.
