The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, organised a two-day symposium, Drawing Dialogues 2026: Calibration and Celebration of Drawing in Design, at its Gandhinagar campus, bringing together educators, researchers, design professionals and students to discuss the role of drawing in design.
Dr Sachchidanand Joshi attended the event as the chief guest. The symposium was led by Prof Kaushik Chakraborty, senior faculty member of Communication Design and Animation Film Design at NID.
The discussions explored drawing as a means of observation, inquiry and creative expression, with sessions covering teaching methods, research, traditional practices, professional applications and emerging directions in the field.
The symposium received nearly 150 paper submissions, of which 27 were selected for presentation. These included six papers from international participants.
