A beautician from Nikol has lodged a complaint alleging she was cheated of 15 lakh by a man–woman duo who promised her a UK work permit visa.
According to police, the accused — identified as Roshni Vaghela and Yaman Dabhi — forged documents, including a fake permission of work (POW) letter, a bogus appointment letter from a UK-based firm, and doctored payment screenshots to convince the victim the process was genuine.
The complainant, Pritiben Nai, met Roshni at an IELTS class in January. Roshni claimed she worked with a travel agency and later introduced Pritiben to Yaman, who demanded ₹18 lakh to arrange the visa. Trusting them, she paid nearly 17 lakh in instalments.
The duo later returned only 2 lakh and allegedly sent her false proof of refund for the remaining 15 lakh. When she discovered the fraud, Pritiben filed a complaint at Nikol police station. Both accused have been booked for cheating and forgery.
Police are investigating whether they have defrauded others in a similar manner.
