Ramol police on Friday uncovered a racket involving the fraudulent issuance of Ayushman Bharat health cards using forged income certificates. Two accused — Dheeraj Jitendra Rajput (34) and Kishorebhai Dungaji Prajapati of Odhav — were arrested, while the main accused, Deepak Ahir of Surat, is absconding.
During a raid at Hetansinh Online near Ramol-Vastral Gram Panchayat, police seized a computer, printer, two mobile phones, and 20 fake income certificates, all worth ₹1.07 lakh. Investigators said Rajput had been forging certificates for ₹1,200 each for the past two years, enabling ineligible applicants to obtain Ayushman cards. Some allegedly paid extra for faster approvals.
Police suspect hundreds may have been issued on the basis of forged documents. An FIR has been registered at Ramol Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and efforts are on to trace the absconding accused.
