The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) destroyed 288 kg of Manchurian and biryani prepared with synthetic food colours during a citywide food safety inspection. Several restaurants, bakeries and food outlets were also sealed for unhygienic conditions, misbranded food and operating without the required licences or registrations.
Four VMC food safety teams inspected restaurants, food and water shops and food lorries across Vadodara. Among the units sealed were Swagat Sweet Corner, Amritsari Kulcha, Pratham Bakery and Shri Jagdish Farsan.
At Swagat Sweet Corner on Vasna-Bhayali Road, officials found 8 kg of Manchurian made with synthetic food colour and a can of the colour. Both were destroyed and the restaurant was sealed for unhygienic conditions.

In Gotri, Raghuvanshi Paan Parlour was sealed for operating without the required licence or registration.
During an inspection of Hyderabadi Biryani in Fatehganj, officials destroyed 40 kg of non-vegetarian food and chutney and sealed the restaurant for unhygienic conditions.

Another 20 kg of synthetic-coloured biryani was seized and destroyed at Zamzam Caterers, which was also closed for hygiene violations.
In Manjalpur, VMC teams destroyed 5 kg of paneer, boiled potatoes, pakodas and other food items at Dawat restaurant and sealed the outlet. Bansal Food was also closed over cleanliness issues.

VMC Warns Against Reopening Sealed Units
The VMC has warned food business operators not to reopen establishments sealed by the civic body without permission. Officials said some traders had allegedly reopened sealed units without informing the food safety department.
The civic body warned that any sealed unit reopened without VMC permission could face suspension of its FSSAI licence or registration.
