The Western Railway’s Ahmedabad Division has imposed a ₹5 lakh fine and sealed the base kitchen at Kalupur Railway Station following a surprise inspection that found serious irregularities related to food quality and hygiene.
The inspection was conducted by the Railway Food Vigilance Force, formed under Ahmedabad Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Ved Prakash.
Following the findings, railway authorities sealed the kitchen and imposed the penalty. Western Railway said food quality and hygiene at railway food facilities are being closely monitored and that no compromise will be tolerated in food served to passengers.
The railway administration also warned that strict action would be taken against violations of food safety standards.
Officials reiterated that passenger safety and the provision of quality amenities remain among the railway’s top priorities.
