A serious food safety incident has come to light in Vadodara’s Manjalpur area, where customers accused a popular food outlet, Pizzainos near Tulsidham, of serving fungus-infested pizza and foul-smelling food to a family with children.
According to reports, the family had visited the restaurant and ordered starters along with pizzas. Trouble began when the starters reportedly emitted a strong foul smell. Initially, the customers suspected an issue with the sauce or cheese, but the situation worsened after a special “heart pizza” was served.
While checking the pizza, the family allegedly discovered fungus underneath the pizza base. The parents became alarmed as their children had already eaten a few slices of the contaminated food, raising concerns over possible health risks.
When the customers confronted the restaurant staff, the outlet manager allegedly dismissed the fungus as “burn marks from the pan.” Unsatisfied with the explanation, the family approached the owner, who reportedly offered to waive the bill instead of addressing the issue seriously.
The customers also claimed that the kitchen was unhygienic and poorly maintained, with little attention given to cleanliness and food safety standards.
Angered by the response, women from the family recorded videos and photographs of the allegedly contaminated food and unhygienic conditions. The visuals later went viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage and demands for strict action against the outlet.
