The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted dry weather across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli for the next seven days. According to the weather department, there is no major change expected in maximum temperatures during the coming week.
The IMD said temperatures are likely to remain above 40 degrees Celsius at isolated places across Gujarat over the next few days. Several parts of North Gujarat and Kutch are already experiencing above-normal temperatures, while some areas in South Gujarat and Saurashtra have also reported hotter-than-usual conditions.
The department stated that weather conditions remained dry across the state during the last 24 hours ending Saturday morning, with no significant change in temperatures. Dry weather is expected to continue in all districts from May 25 to May 31, and no heatwave warning has been issued for the state during this period.
For Ahmedabad and nearby areas, the IMD has forecast a partly cloudy sky with the maximum temperature likely to remain around 42°C on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the weather department said conditions are becoming favourable for the further advance of the southwest monsoon into more parts of the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal over the next two to three days. However, Gujarat is not expected to receive any immediate impact from monsoon activity.
