A former hotel employee has been booked for allegedly issuing repeated death and acid attack threats to a female receptionist and another staff member after being dismissed from a hotel in Navrangpura, Ahmedabad, police said on Monday.
According to Navrangpura police, the accused, Vijay Singh Chauhan, a native of Jaipur, Rajasthan, had worked at Nalanda Hotel for around 10 days before being terminated on April 19.
Hotel manager Kamlesh Jaitley said Chauhan was removed due to unsatisfactory conduct. Soon after his dismissal, he allegedly began sending threatening messages and making repeated calls to the hotel’s mobile and landline numbers.
Police said Chauhan sent a message warning receptionist Afiya Pathan (24) to come outside, claiming he would “show who he is” and “settle scores”. He also allegedly threatened to carry out an acid attack if she stepped out of the premises.
“He threatened to disfigure her face with acid and used abusive language during repeated late-night calls,” an officer said.
The complaint states that the accused continued making threatening calls on April 20, warning that he would damage the hotel and harm its staff. Alarmed, the hotel employees contacted the police control room, after which officers reached the spot.
Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under relevant sections related to criminal intimidation, threats, and harassment. Efforts are underway to trace and arrest the accused, and further action will be taken based on technical evidence, including call records and messages.
