A 32-year-old singer from Ahmedabad suffered facial injuries after allegedly being assaulted by four men, including two identified accused, outside a rooftop café on SG Highway late on December 29, police said.
According to the FIR lodged at Vastrapur Police Station, the incident occurred around 11.45 pm on the public road outside Machaan Rooftop Café. The complainant, Hardik alias Hardil Rajeshbhai Pandya, a professional singer, lyricist and composer, was standing with his friends Rudra Ojha and Kaushal Hastwala when the attack took place.
Pandya told police that while he was on a phone call, his friend Jigar Mulani arrived. As Pandya extended his hand to greet him, Shyam Sidhawat and Pawan Parmar, along with two unidentified men, allegedly pushed him from behind, causing him to fall.
The accused then allegedly abused him and assaulted him. The complaint states that Sidhawat, who was wearing a metal imitation ring, struck Pandya on the left side of his face two to three times, causing bleeding injuries near his mouth. The two unidentified accomplices also allegedly joined in the assault.
Hearing the commotion, Pandya’s friends and passersby intervened and managed to rescue him, after which the accused fled the scene. Pandya was taken to Sola Civil Hospital, where doctors treated him and placed two stitches on the left side of his mouth.
Later, Pandya approached the Vastrapur police with his father and filed a formal complaint. Police said at least six witnesses, including friends and family members, were present at the time of the incident.
Based on the complaint, Vastrapur police registered a case and began an investigation. Efforts are ongoing to identify and trace the two unidentified accused.
Confirming the development, Vastrapur Police Inspector L L Chavda said, “A case has been registered and the investigation is underway. We are examining CCTV footage and expect to nab the accused soon.”
