A 51-year-old Science City resident has accused a Bodakdev-based masseuse, her husband, and an associate of extorting over ₹71 lakh from him across 18 months through threats of defamation and false cases. Vastrapur police have registered an FIR and begun investigating the money trail.
Harassment began after spa visit
The complainant, Kirtan (name changed), said he visited a Bodakdev spa 18 months ago, where a masseuse, Chandan Rajput, allegedly asked him to pay her directly for future sessions. Though he never returned, she allegedly began calling him and threatening to frame him if he didn’t pay her. He claims to have transferred ₹10.91 lakh to accounts linked to Chandan and her relatives.
Costly demands: phone, jewellery, cash
Chandan allegedly forced him to buy her a ₹66,000 phone on EMI. Later, she and her husband Mohit Jain reportedly demanded jewellery for her brother’s wedding, threatening him again when he refused. He says he bought jewellery worth ₹1.86 lakh and also paid ₹6 lakh in cash.
Assault and fresh threats
On November 27, Chandan allegedly demanded another ₹20 lakh. When he refused, she, Mohit, and associate Bhavik Sanghvi allegedly visited his shop, assaulted him, and issued fresh threats. Police arrived after he called the control room, but the accused allegedly warned him against filing a case.
Investigation underway
The victim eventually approached Vastrapur police with financial records and call logs. Police are now verifying the alleged extortion network and the roles of all three accused. Further action will follow once statements are recorded.
