The Sola High Court Police are investigating a theft in which a woman posing as a customer allegedly stole a gold ring worth ₹90,000 from a jewellery showroom in Gota.
As per the FIR by salesman Vipul Joshi of Veerkrupa Jewellers, the woman — around 50 years old and claiming to shop for a family wedding — visited the store on November 28. After looking at several gold rings and earrings, she told staff she was stepping out to withdraw cash from a nearby ATM. She never returned.
During stock checking, the staff realised a 6.440-gram gold ring with an ‘Om’ design was missing. CCTV footage showed the woman discreetly setting aside two rings, leaving one and concealing another before walking out.
Police traced and arrested the accused, identified as Reema (47), wife of Javed Ahmed, from Abu Road in Rajasthan using CCTV and technical surveillance. Investigators are checking if she is linked to similar thefts in Ahmedabad or nearby districts.
