A young man died after a high-speed crash near the GMDC ground in Ahmedabad. Police revealed that the BMW motorcycle he was riding had reached 163 kmph just before the accident.
The victim, Parth Kalal, collided with a BRTS railing late Monday night and died on the spot. The impact was so severe that his body was found nearly 100 metres from the bike. The crash caused catastrophic injuries, including the severing of an arm. Although Parth was wearing a helmet, the strap was unfastened, reducing its protective effect.
Traffic A Division police have registered an accidental death case and are consulting BMW engineers and RTO officials to verify the bike’s speed and check for any mechanical issues. CCTV footage from the area is also being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events.
PI Nitesh Desai said, “Preliminary analysis shows the motorcycle was being ridden at extremely high speed. Technical inputs from BMW and RTO will help confirm these findings.”
