In a late-night robbery in Ahmedabad’s Bodakdev area, three masked men broke into a bungalow and looted gold, diamond jewellery, luxury watches, and cash worth ₹22.91 lakh after holding a 75-year-old businessman and his wife at knifepoint.
According to the FIR filed at Bodakdev police station, the incident took place around 1.30 am on October 27 at the residence of Bharatbhai Babubhai Shah (75) in Aryaman Bungalows on Thaltej–Shilaj Road. Shah, who runs a textile machinery business, said he woke up in the middle of the night to find two masked intruders in his bedroom armed with knives.
When his wife Pallavi woke up, a third robber entered and threatened to kill Shah if she didn’t cooperate. Under pressure, she opened a hidden safe in their dressing room. The robbers took gold ornaments, diamond-studded jewellery, a platinum bracelet, gold bars, Rado and Longines watches, and 1 lakh in cash.
Before fleeing, the robbers warned the couple not to inform the police, threatening to kill them if they did. Terrified, the couple stayed in their room until dawn and later discovered the burglars had entered through a broken window at the back of the house.
CCTV footage showed the three men scaling the rear compound wall around 12.57 am and leaving at 2.48 am with the stolen valuables.
Bodakdev police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are analysing CCTV footage and local intelligence to identify the accused.
