A 14-year-old girl shopping at the MAX store in Palladium Mall, SG Highway, narrowly escaped being secretly filmed inside a trial room on October 1.
While trying on clothes, she spotted a phone placed on the floor in a suspicious position. Acting quickly, she seized the device, rushed out, and raised an alarm. The family later found four obscene videos of her recorded on the phone.
The accused, identified as 27-year-old Ravi Prajapati of Nisuvrat Society, returned to the store claiming his phone had fallen by accident. Police, however, confirmed the recordings and arrested him under relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
The incident has triggered widespread anger, with citizens demanding stricter safety checks in trial rooms. Police have also urged shoppers to stay alert, noting similar cases of hidden cameras being uncovered in malls and other facilities across India.
