Ahmedabad Rural Police rescued a family of three in the early hours of Wednesday after a couple allegedly consumed poison following a domestic dispute, leaving their 11-year-old son pleading for help on the roadside.The incident occurred around 2 am near Devdarshan Apartments in Bopal, when a patrolling team came across a distressing scene: a woman crying inconsolably, her young son weeping beside her, and her husband lying unconscious in her lap.Police learned that the husband and wife had ingested poison after an argument at home. The boy, too young to comprehend the situation, was begging passersby for help. Acting quickly, one officer induced vomiting in the unconscious husband to expel the poison and performed the same life-saving procedure on the wife, who was also on the verge of collapse.The family was rushed to Saraswati Hospital near Vakal Bridge. Officers comforted the child, offering him food and reassurance while his parents received treatment. Doctors later confirmed that the couple was out of danger. Grateful relatives praised the police for their swift intervention, which prevented a tragedy.“Had the officers not acted immediately, the outcome could have been very different. Their presence of mind saved an entire family,” said a senior official at Bopal police station.That night, the Bopal police demonstrated that their role extends beyond law enforcement, highlighting the compassion and humanity central to effective policing.
