The Mahila Police Station (West) has registered a case against a Human Resources manager of a private firm after a 42-year-old woman accused him of sexually exploiting her, blackmailing her with private visuals, and circulating them among her colleagues — an ordeal that eventually cost her her job.
From workplace acquaintance to harassment
According to the complaint, the woman, a resident of Vastrapur, first met the accused, Bhavesh Bharat Mulchand Kundal, in 2022 during a job interview. Their friendship soon turned personal, and despite being married, Bhavesh allegedly proposed to her, claiming he was in the process of divorce. Believing his assurances, she entered into a relationship with him.
Over the next two years, the complainant alleged, Bhavesh repeatedly demanded money for “college fees and loan instalments”, which she provided through cash and online transfers. She later discovered his involvement with other women, leading to disputes that allegedly escalated into violence.
Threats, blackmail and abuse
The complainant further alleged that Bhavesh coerced her into physical relations by threatening to leak their private photos and videos. He allegedly harassed her over phone calls and WhatsApp, sending obscene messages, nude photos of himself, and threats of suicide if she refused his demands.
On multiple occasions, the accused allegedly forced his way into her home, abused her, and assaulted her. On March 24, 2025, he reportedly barged into her residence, threatened self-harm, and demanded sexual relations while brandishing a ring.
Matters worsened in May 2025, when the accused allegedly circulated her private images among office colleagues, leading to her termination. The woman claimed that Bhavesh deliberately sought to destroy both her professional and personal life through “emotional manipulation, blackmail and repeated abuse.”
Police register case
Confirming the development, police officials said an FIR has been lodged under sections related to sexual assault, physical assault, criminal intimidation, cheating, and relevant provisions of the IT Act dealing with the circulation of obscene material.
“Based on the complaint and supporting evidence, a case has been registered. The investigation is under way,” a senior police officer said.
