An Ahmedabad lawyer has lodged a complaint with Ellisbridge police, accusing a woman of extorting 22.8 lakh from him and his wife by threatening to leak their “objectionable” photos and videos.
The complainant, Himanshu Mahendrabhai Sampat (47), a Paldi resident and legal advisor, alleged that the accused, Ankitaben Praveen Singh Gohel, befriended him in 2022 under the pretext of Reiki healing. She initially charged him ₹1 lakh and later accompanied him to Goa in June 2023, where she allegedly recorded photos and videos at hotels and public places.
According to a media report, the FIR, Gohel began threatening to release the material after Sampat ended her contract. She allegedly forced him to transfer 12.5 lakh through his firm to an entity called Creative Vibe and continued to make fresh demands. Between 2023 and 2024, Sampat and his wife, Anamika Nao, were allegedly pressured into paying through cash, bank transfers and digital payments via an associate, Deepesh Rathod.
In May 2025, Gohel allegedly escalated the threats by sending clips to one of Sampat’s professional contacts before demanding another ₹5 lakh from Anamika. Altogether, the couple claims to have paid her 22.8 lakh.
Ellisbridge police have booked Gohel under extortion and criminal intimidation provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police said she had earlier faced a similar case in 2021 at Khokhra police station.
