A woman from a posh area in Ahmedabad has filed a police complaint against her husband and in-laws, accusing them of dowry harassment and physical abuse.
The woman, in her 30s, said that her husband forced her to watch porn and engage in unnatural sexual acts. She also claimed he drew obscene pictures on her body using markers. Their engagement took place in 2021, and before marriage, the husband suggested they live together.
According to the FIR, her in-laws demanded ₹40 lakh for a grand destination wedding. She also said her mother-in-law took away all her jewellery and cash, and she wasn’t allowed to visit her parents for three years.
Ten days after their wedding, her husband went abroad, and later, the in-laws allegedly demanded more money to let her join him. She further claimed her mother-in-law forced her into strange rituals, saying they would help her give birth to a son.
The woman also said she was made to take 27 medicines at once, affecting her health. When she refused to agree to a divorce, her husband allegedly threatened to leak private photos, drag her into legal trouble, and cancel her visa.
Police have registered an FIR and started an investigation into the serious allegations.
