The Ahmedabad crime branch has arrested a 30-year-old woman in theft cases: a Rs 3.69 lakh robbery in the Ellisbridge area and a Rs 25 lakh theft in the Gujarat University police station area.
The arrested woman has been identified as Rekha Mali, a resident of Khokhara. her arrest was made near the Bhaipura Urban Health Centre based on human intelligence.
After the examination of approximately 170 CCTV camera footages. the police received information about Rekha, the police recovered Rs 10 lakh in cash from Mali.
The first incident took place on September 5, near the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A), where two individuals on a motorcycle snatched a bag containing Rs 25 lakh from an employee of an infrastructure firm. Notably, one of the accused was a woman.
A similar robbery occurred on August 31 in the Ellisbridge area, where Iliyas Bulluwala (47), an employee of a printing press, reported that a person wearing a white apron, accompanied by a woman, snatched Rs 3.69 lakh and fled the scene.
