Government school students in Surat will have to attend classes on four Sundays in September and October to make up for academic days lost due to holidays announced during heavy rainfall.
The City Primary Education Committee has decided to keep schools open on September 6, September 13, September 27 and October 4.
Four Extra Holidays Declared Due to Heavy Rain
Schools had remained closed for four additional days in July and August because of heavy rainfall. The holidays were observed on July 24 and 25, and July 31 and August 1.
To compensate for these lost school days, academic activities will now be conducted on the four Sundays.
Classes to Continue on Sundays
The decision has been taken to ensure that students do not lose academic time and that the syllabus can be completed as scheduled.
Students and parents have been asked to note the four dates and make the necessary arrangements to attend school.
School authorities have also been directed to inform students and parents in advance about the special working Sundays to avoid confusion and ensure smooth conduct of classes.
