Ahmedabad Police have uncovered a clothing theft racket in which a shop employee and his associates allegedly stole ladieswear and jeans worth lakhs of rupees from garment shops.
The police solved two theft cases registered at Kagdapith and Kalupur police stations and arrested three people involved in the crime. The theft was uncovered during the interrogation of the accused after they were remanded by the court.
During the investigation, police recovered 582 pieces of ladies’ clothing, including kurtis, two-piece and three-piece dress sets, along with a mobile phone from the Kagdapith case. In the Kalupur case, police seized 407 pairs of stolen jeans.
Overall, stolen goods worth around ₹4.09 lakh were recovered.
The arrested accused have been identified as Dashrath alias Vivek Baori, Sahil Baori, who allegedly helped transport the stolen goods, and Hiren Punjabi, who is accused of buying the stolen clothes at a low price.
Police said the main accused, Sanjay, an employee of the clothing shop, is still absconding. Four of his alleged associates—Kishore Salat, Vishal Salat, Chirag Salat and Akash—are also on the run.
Separate police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the remaining accused.
