A Mercedes-Benz car valued at around ₹9 lakh was allegedly stolen from a public parking area near Mansi Crossroads in Ahmedabad’s Vastrapur area, police said on Wednesday.
According to Vastrapur Police Station, the theft took place between the evening of May 9 and the morning of May 11 from a parking lot located behind Kornak Tower near Nalanda Complex.
The complainant, Prashant Vishwanath Nair, 41, a businessman residing near Mansi Crossroads, informed police that the stolen vehicle was a brown-coloured Mercedes-Benz E-250 CDI, model year 2010.
In his complaint, Nair stated that he runs a real estate business under the name S R Group in Bodakdev. He said the car, registered in the name of his father’s friend Chelan Abdul Aziz, was being used by him regularly.
According to the complaint, Nair’s driver, Krunal Leuwa, parked the vehicle in the public parking lot around 7 pm on May 9 after locking it properly. However, when he returned around 8 am on May 11 to collect the car, it was missing.
Despite searching nearby areas, neither the complainant nor the driver could locate the vehicle, leading them to suspect that an unidentified person had stolen it.
Police said the estimated value of the stolen vehicle is approximately ₹9 lakh.
An offence of vehicle theft has been registered against an unknown accused, and further investigation is underway.
