A budding cricketer from Mehsana, Shlok Patel, has taken his fight for fairness to the Gujarat High Court. He’s challenging his exclusion from the SGFI under-17 cricket team selection.
The petition was filed by his father, Bharatkumar Patel, raising concerns about how the Sports Authority of Gujarat handled the selection process. According to their claims, Shlok attended a Pre-National Camp in Ahmedabad after receiving an invitation on March 27, 2026. The camp began on April 9 and lasted four days.
However, Shlok alleges no formal skill assessments were conducted during that time. Afterward, he learned he wasn’t chosen for the final squad of 16 members heading to Telangana.
In a twist of frustration, officials reportedly refused to disclose any evaluation information, labeling it as “internal” matters. This lack of transparency is at the heart of Shlok’s petition, which describes it as “vitiated by arbitrariness.”
The plea highlights Shlok’s track record: he’s consistently performed well at both district and school levels, racking up several medals and trophies along the way. His legal approach aims not just at reversing his non-selection but also demands that future assessments focus on merit through a more objective process.
