The Union Sports Ministry has earmarked a grant-in-aid of Rs 2,000 crore for the Gujarat Government to organise the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad.
The financial assistance has been included in the revised guidelines under the Assistance to National Sports Federations (ANSF) scheme. Ahmedabad secured the hosting rights for the centenary edition of the Commonwealth Games last year, defeating Nigeria in the bidding process.
According to the ministry, the proposed grant is calculated at 2025 rates and is expected to rise to approximately Rs 2,500 crore by 2030 after adjustments for the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which measures changes in retail inflation. The funds will be released as and when the Gujarat Government submits a request for financial assistance.
