India’s Sachin Siwach clinched the country’s first men’s boxing gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 after defeating Namibia’s Tryagain Ndevelo in the 60kg final in Glasgow.
Siwach, who dominated throughout the tournament, overcame a point deduction to register a 4-1 split-decision victory in the final. The triumph also gave India its sixth gold medal in boxing at the Games, the highest-ever tally in a single Commonwealth Games edition.
On his way to the title, Siwach defeated Canada’s Keoma Al-Ahmadieh and England’s William Hewitt in the opening rounds. He then beat Botswana’s Treasure Moremi by unanimous decision in the quarterfinals before overcoming Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan in the semifinals.
India’s boxing gold rush began with Preeti Pawar, who won the women’s 54kg title with a dominant 5-0 victory over Canada’s Scarlett Savannah Delgado. Reigning world champion Jaismine Lamboria followed with a 5-0 win against Northern Ireland’s Michaela Walsh in the women’s 57kg final.
Sakshi Chaudhary added another gold by defeating England’s Ruby White in the women’s 65kg final, while Preeti Ghanghas claimed the women’s 60kg title after beating Canada’s Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh.
Priya Ghanghas and Arundhati Chaudhary also secured gold medals, taking India’s boxing gold tally to six.In addition to the six gold medals, Jadumani Singh and Lovlina Borgohain won silver medals, capping a historic boxing campaign for India at the Commonwealth Games 2026.
