A bomb threat triggered panic at the main RTO office in Ahmedabad on Monday morning, adding to a growing pattern of threats targeting key government institutions in the city.
An anonymous message warned of a possible explosion at the RTO premises, prompting authorities to act swiftly. As a precaution, the entire office was evacuated, causing chaos among applicants present at the time.
Ranip Police were immediately informed, and a heavy security presence reached the spot within minutes. Staff and visitors were safely moved out, while all ongoing activities — including driving licence tests — were suspended and candidates were asked to leave.
Bomb Disposal Squad (BDDS) and dog squad teams have launched a detailed search operation across the premises, covering offices, corridors, parking areas, and the driving test track. Officials are also using technical tools to trace the origin of the threat and identify those responsible.
In recent weeks, similar threats have been reported at multiple locations in Ahmedabad, including schools, colleges, the passport office, rural courts, and even the Gujarat High Court.
With such repeated incidents, security agencies remain on high alert as investigations continue to determine whether these threats are hoaxes or part of a larger conspiracy.
