Gujarat’s semi-high-speed rail network will expand further from February 16 with the launch of the Asarva–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express, adding Himmatnagar to the growing list of cities connected by the premium service. With this addition, 21 cities and towns in Gujarat will now have connectivity through Vande Bharat Express trains.
The new train will operate between Udaipur City in Rajasthan and Asarva in Ahmedabad, with an important halt at Himmatnagar in North Gujarat. The inaugural one-way special service from Udaipur to Asarva will run on February 16, while regular operations will begin on February 18. The train will run six days a week and remain cancelled on Tuesdays.
Gujarat Cities Connected by Vande Bharat
With Himmatnagar joining the network, the connected locations include: Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Surat, Valsad, Vapi, Palanpur, Mehsana, Sanand, Viramgam, Surendranagar, Wankaner, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Okha, Junagadh, Veraval, Navsari and Himmatnagar.
Ahmedabad continues to serve as the main hub in the state, with all six Vande Bharat trains either originating, terminating or halting there. Cities like Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, Rajkot, Viramgam, Surendranagar and Wankaner receive two services each, while several other towns are connected by one train.
Key Vande Bharat Routes in Gujarat
Gujarat is currently served by six Vande Bharat trains:
- Mumbai Central–Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express
- Jodhpur–Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express
- Ahmedabad–Okha Vande Bharat Express
- Ahmedabad–Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express
- Sabarmati–Veraval Vande Bharat Express
- Asarva–Udaipur City Vande Bharat Express (new from February 2026)
The addition of the Asarva–Udaipur service is expected to strengthen tourism, business travel and regional connectivity between Gujarat and Rajasthan.
With six operational Vande Bharat services touching the state, Gujarat’s 21 cities and towns are now part of India’s fastest operational rail network, enhancing mobility and economic integration across western India.
