Officials of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Ahmedabad Customs seized foreign currency valued at ₹25.81 lakh from a passenger at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport based on specific inputs from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).
The passenger was scheduled to fly from Ahmedabad to Dubai on a SpiceJet flight on February 13, 2026, when he was intercepted by Customs officers.
During baggage screening and personal search, officials recovered 288 US currency notes of $100 denomination, totalling $28,800. The dollars were concealed in the passenger’s trolley bag, carry bag and trouser pocket.
Customs authorities said the seized foreign currency is valued at ₹25,81,920 and further investigation is underway.
