A 37-year-old woman from Bapunagar has lodged an FIR alleging that her former partner morphed her photograph onto an obscene video and circulated it on Instagram to force her to resume their relationship.
The complainant, identified as Debanjana (name changed), told police that the accused — Jitu alias Jayaraj Singh Solanki from Mehsana — had been harassing her for six months after she ended their relationship earlier this year.
Morphed video used to threaten, says complaint
According to the FIR, the woman broke off the relationship after learning that Jayaraj was allegedly involved with another woman and was “addicted to drugs”. She said she had blocked his number due to repeated calls and pressure.
On December 1, she received a call from an unknown person claiming he had seen a “nude video” on Instagram featuring her face and mobile number. Shocked, she asked a friend to verify the claim. The friend confirmed that the clip was an obscene video with her face and number digitally added.
When she confronted Jayaraj, he allegedly threatened her, saying he would continue to upload more edited photos and videos on Instagram and WhatsApp if she did not return to him. The FIR states he warned that she “would not be allowed to live peacefully” if she refused.
Police register case
The woman told police that she and Jayaraj met two years ago at a hospital where she worked and later entered a relationship, during which they exchanged photos and videos. Since the breakup, she alleged, he has been calling her from multiple numbers and pressuring her to stay in touch.
Bapunagar police have booked Jayaraj under charges of criminal intimidation, online harassment, defamation and circulation of obscene content. Officials said an investigation is underway to trace the social media accounts used, verify the edited video, and locate the accused.
