A 28-year-old man was detained by the Mahila Police Station (West) on Wednesday night after he was allegedly found exposing himself and urinating in full public view on the busy GMDC–Vastrapur Road. The incident came to light during a special patrol drive ordered by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Women’s Cell.
According to the FIR, the incident occurred around 7.40 pm on November 19, when a police team was patrolling the area as part of a citywide campaign to curb offences affecting women’s safety and public decency.
The patrol team reportedly spotted the man standing by the roadside near GMDC Road, exposing himself “without shame” in an area frequented by commuters. He was also seen urinating in public view, the FIR states.
The man, identified as Deepakkumar Dineshbhai Chauhan, a driver residing in Vastrapur and originally from Krushnnagar in Idar (Sabarkantha), was immediately taken into custody. Police said he was arrested for committing an act of public indecency under relevant sections of the Gujarat Police Act.
